A Cooperative Weed Management Area
is fast becoming the organization of choice in the ongoing battle against noxious
weeds here in the wide open West. We would like to introduce you to this CWMA and
invite you to participate both in our scheduled projects and in the spirit of multiple
entity cooperation that we stand for.
The Weber River CWMA
represents USDA Forest
Service Wasatch-Cache National Forest, Weber County Utah,
Davis County Utah, Morgan County Utah,
Box Elder County Utah, Cache County
Utah, Utah Department of Transportation, Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, Soil
Conservation Districts from the 5 County Area, Utah State
Parks Antelope Island, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources,
School & Institution Trust Land Administration, and the Union Pacific Railroad.
This Cooperative Agreement
is made and entered into by and between the above named agencies primarily because
of the noxious weed control responsibilities the cooperators have on adjacent and
co-mingled lands within the boundaries of the CWMA. Each of the entities have or
have access to financial resources for noxious weed management, and/or maintains equipment
and personnel for the purpose of controlling these invaders within their own
jurisdictions.
The Cooperators
desire to join together in a formal manor and promote an integrated weed management
program that includes public relations, education and training in the noxious weed arena
as well as coordination of weed control efforts and methods, sharing of resources, and
designing resource protection measures relative to weed management.
The Mutual Benefits
derived from this undertaking will be many. We will immediately have an
efficient means of communicating about noxious weed management and trends within the
geographic area covered. The sharing of knowledge, and in many cases resources, will
achieve heretofore unreachable levels of weed control while improving working
relationships with the partners and members of the public served by each.
Please Take Time to browse this site as it will contain many pertinent links to weed management resources
found on the web that will aide you in your particular venue.
